Qualifications for Florida Power Exchange Contestants

All contestants must read and understand the qualifications for
being a contestant. The following are the rules for qualification and what is expected of the contestants.
Florida Power Exchange may be referred to as FPE.

To enter the contest:

  1. You must be at least twenty‐one years old.
  2. You must be one part of any pair/poly/triad that’s in a “power exchange” relationship for at least one year.
  3. You must be a resident full or part time of the state of Florida.
  4. You must not have any outstanding warrants, either nationally or internationally, of a felony conviction.
  5. You must complete your required paperwork as outlined in the “Contestant Checklist” by the deadline of September 30th.
  6. You must be able to communicate and teach others about your specific power exchange dynamic.
  7. You cannot have a current title that conflicts with the FPE contest or with the rules of your current title. If you hold a current title, contact the FPE contest director immediately to find out if you are still eligible to compete in the FPE contest.
  8. You must be able to arrive at Florida Power Exchange no later than 2:00 pm on Thursday, the first day of the conference.
  9. You must agree to be photographed and allow the photographs to be used on the Florida Power Exchange website and /or print advertising for Florida Power Exchange.
  10. You are not permitted to be under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol during any of the contest portions. “Under the influence” is subject to be determined at the discretion of the Florida Power Exchange Producers and the Contest Director. This can result in removal from the contest.
  11. You will be expected to bring one (or more if possible) item(s) or basket(s) for the silent auction that benefits the contest winners’ travel fund. This item or basket must have a regular retail value of a maximum of $300. We suggest not to go over $200 in total value.
    Note: If it is a basket of items and the total value is over $200, it is up to the discretion of the FPE Director and Silent Auction Coordinator to separate the items into smaller groups or to leave it as received. You must provide a list of the items and their retail value any time prior to October 15th using the online Auction Form. (Link coming soon.)
  12. You will be expected to wear contestant numbers at all times until the end of the contest and then return them to the contest director. These will be provided at the contestant meeting prior to the Meet and Greet.

If you are awarded the title:

1. You must be able to:

  • Present at least four (4) workshops, classes, or demos to teach others about your specific
    dynamic at three (3) or more different approved groups or events during your title year.
  • Must enter and run in the upcoming Beyond Leather’s International Power Exchange contest as FPE representatives and return to FPE the following year to teach a class about your power exchange.
  • Return to FPE the following year to “step down” from your title and give a speech regarding your title year.
  • Your entrance fee to FPE will be waived for the above steps.

2. You may also be asked to:

  • Help out in a volunteer position at FPE following your title year.
  • Bring an auction item to help raise travel funds for your successors.

3. Act accordingly/respectably in public as you now represent FPE & the state of Florida for your title year. This includes but is not limited to online communications and events where you may not be presenting but may be attending.

4. Communicate with the Producers and Director concerning plans to teach and/or represent FPE at any event in or out of the state of Florida as well as concerns relating to individuals in the community within the realm of your title year.

The signing of the contract(s) and application(s) means you also agree to these rules and regulations, as well as any others submitted to you in writing by the Producers of Florida Power Exchange and the Director of the FPE Contest.
